Snyder Vetoes NRA-Backed Gun Proliferation Legislation
MICHIGAN — Today, Gov. Rick Snyder vetoed legislation that was an attempt by the National Rifle Association to put guns in the hands of domestic abusers and stalkers. Progress Michigan recently called on Snyder to veto the legislation.
“It’s about time that Gov. Snyder listened to the calls from the progressive community to veto this dangerous legislation,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “If only Snyder had shown the same backbone when it came to other issues like marriage equality and Right to Work. Vetoing this bill should’ve been a no-brainer for the governor and it’s shocking that he didn’t veto it the second it hit his desk. Even so, we’re pleased that this radical, special interest-backed legislation has been shot down.”
