Progress Michigan Applauds Federal Judge Ruling that Michigan Must Respect Same Sex Marriages
Ceremonies performed in March 2014 must be recognized
LANSING – Progress Michigan applauded the ruling by a United States Federal Judge that will allow same-sex couples legally wed in Michigan in 2014 to have those marriages recognized by the state.
“Today’s ruling brings loving Michigan families one step closer to realizing marriage equality,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “Governor Rick Snyder and Attorney General Bill Schuette have needlessly stood in the way of freedom and equality, but with today’s ruling they will have to finally recognize these marriages.”
