Snyder Should Immediately Veto NRA-Backed Gun Bill
Choosing between protecting people or siding with corporate lobbyists isn’t a hard decision
MICHIGAN — Today, Progress Michigan called on Gov. Rick Snyder to veto a National Rifle Association-backed bill that would allow domestic abusers and stalkers to carry concealed weapons.
“It shouldn’t take more than a second to veto legislation that puts victims of domestic violence at risk,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “If Gov. Snyder signs this bill, it will prove that he is in the back pocket of the radical gun lobby. Survivors of domestic abuse and stalking deserve a governor who does not further victimize them by allowing abusers to carry dangerous weapons. Gov. Snyder needs to veto this legislation without any further delay.”
