Progress Michigan Statement on Inauguration
MICHIGAN — Progress Michigan released the following statement regarding the presidential inauguration. The statement can be attributed to Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan.
“President Donald Trump represents the worst of America: greed, racism, sexism, and ignorance. However, the election clearly showed that there are more Americans who are opposed to the right-wing vision he paints for the country than those who support it. Progress Michigan stands ready to resist the repressive efforts of this administration with the people of Michigan and America and will stand with communities targeted by its policies. While today may be shrouded in gloom for many people around the state and country, we find peace in knowing that the struggle for racial and gender equity, environmental protection, and an economy that works for everyone will not end today. It will only intensify because history and justice are on our side.”
