Bill Schuette Just Won’t Quit, But He Should
Schuette files yet another wasteful appeal on straight ticket voting option
LANSING — Progress Michigan released the following statement regarding Attorney General Bill Schuette’s continued attempt to ignore the will of the people and the ruling of courts by filing legal challenges to the state’s straight ticket voting law. He’s now taking his right-wing crusade to the United States Supreme Court.
“Bill Schuette seems to have taken a page from his pal Donald Trump’s playbook by showing up places no one wants him to be,” said Sam Inglot, deputy communications director for Progress Michigan. “He’s in school bathrooms monitoring who goes where, he’s in our homes trying to define our families, and now he’s in the polling places trying to tell us how we should vote. This last-ditch appeal is a waste of time and public resources and flies in the face of what Michiganders want. Real election reform is about giving more options to voters, not taking them away.”
