Progress Michigan Executive Director Statement on Dave Agema’s Hate-Filled Comments Toward the LGBT Community
LANSING – Dave Agema is at it again. This time the Michigan Republican National Committeeman made the bizarre and hurtful claim that gay people want free medical care because they’re all “dying.” In April, Republicans passed an Agema-sponsored resolution to include opposition to same-sex marriage in their party platform.
“Dave Agema’s continued attacks directed at the LGBT community show just how out of touch he is with the direction of this country and state,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “The question now is, do his conservative colleagues stand by the hateful bigotry of Agema? Or will they finally take a stand and denounce his repulsive and shameful rhetoric?”
