Progress Michigan Calls Out Governor For Failing to Protect Detroit Pensioners

DETROIT — It was revealed by Gov. Rick Snyder at yesterday’s Detroit bankruptcy hearing that he knew he had the power to make Detroit’s bankruptcy filing contingent on protecting pensions — but he chose not to do it, according to the Detroit Free Press.

“Gov. Rick Snyder admitted yesterday that he callously ignored protecting Detroit pensioners. For a governor whose M.O. is toppling democratic institutions with emergency managers, failing to protect retired workers should come as no surprise,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan.  “Whether they’re working or retired, Gov. Snyder doesn’t care about Michigan’s workers. He is simply another right-wing politician who is working to increase corporate bottom lines.”

  1. Absolutely true. He is a right wing tea-bag tool who’s goal is to gut the middle class and throw the working poor into the streets. All to help his cronies in crime – Devos, Koch, and the fanatics at the Mackinac Center. His policies have damaged this state to such a degree that it will be difficult to make things right. But we will. We will GOTV and boot him back to the private sector. He’s a vulture capitalist like his hero Romney and that’s how he’s treating this state. And we don’t like it.
