Decision shows Senate Republicans care more about NRA cash than qualifications
Progress Michigan released the following statement regarding the Michigan Senate’s decision to reject George Heartwell’s nomination to serve on the NRC. The quote can be attributed to Lonnie Scott, Executive Director of Progress Michigan:
“Senate Republicans have one goal with this rejection: please their pals over at the NRA. This vote makes it clear they care more about their NRA blood money than they do about having good people on the NRC. If there were a credible reason to reject either of these nominees, we’d have heard it by now—but Mike Shirkey and Peter Lucido have nothing to offer except vague excuses. Michiganians deserve better than NRA-controlled elected officials.”
