Progress Michigan Names Representative Laurie Pohutsky Legislator of the Month for March

Pohutsky named for introducing bill to strengthen environmental protections

LANSING — Progress Michigan has named Representative Laurie Pohutsky its Legislator of the Month for March. Pohutsky was named for introducing House Bill 4386 which would repeal a bill passed in lame duck which would prohibit the people of Michigan from enacting environmental laws stricter than federal laws.

“Michigan faces several unique environmental issues from the Flint water crisis to PFAS contamination and the continued cleanup of the Great Lakes. This bill will allow our state agencies to set standards that fit our state,” said Hugh Madden, communications director at Progress Michigan. “We applaud Representative Pohutsky for introducing this important piece of legislation and proud to name her our legislator of the month.”

The Legislator of the Month award is given to an elected official who demonstrates a commitment to a government of the people, by the people and for the people.
