Progress Michigan on Changes to Environmental Executive Order

MICHIGAN — Progress Michigan released the following statement on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s new executive order protecting drinking water and restructuring the state’s environmental agency to better serve the people:
“Michigan needs to take protecting our water seriously and we’re glad to see Gov. Whitmer showing leadership on the issue by doing what she needs to do to make these important changes a reality,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “On the other hand, Republicans in the legislature showed they were willing to torpedo important drinking water and public health protections just to appease their corporate donors over at the Michigan Chamber of Commerce who are more concerned about propping up questionable polluter panels than protecting our public health, drinking water, and Great Lakes. We look forward to the day when polluter panels are gone from Michigan for good and will continue to fight alongside this administration until that is a reality.”
