Progress Michigan Names Representative Sherry Gay-Dagnogo Legislator of the Month
Gay-Dagnogo named for her efforts to lower auto insurance premiums, ensure clean drinking water in schools
LANSING — Progress Michigan has named Representative Sherry Gay-Dagnogo its Legislator of the Month for August. Gay-Dagnogo was honored for her using her position to call for fair and affordable reform to lower auto insurance rates and to call for legislative action to clean up contaminants and fund infrastructure improvements to ensure clean drinking water in schools.
“For too many Detroiters, the cost of auto insurance keeps them from having adequate transportation. Representative Gay-Dagnogo has been a leader in the fight for a fair plan that will lower auto insurance rates while protecting victims of auto accidents,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “Gay-Dagnogo has also worked to ensure students have clean water to drink in their schools and despite the failure to address the problem by Republican leadership, Gay-Dagnogo has continued to call them out in an effort to keep our kids safe.”
The Legislator of the Month award is given to an elected official who demonstrates a commitment to government that works for all Michiganders.
“We are proud to call Representative Gay-Dagnogo our legislator of the month,” Scott continued. “The residents of her district and all of Michigan are lucky to have this tireless advocate for change representing them in the Capitol.”
