Progress Michigan Statement on Selection of Mike Pence as Trump’s Running Mate
LANSING — Progress Michigan released the following statement regarding Indiana Governor Mike Pence as the running mate for Donald Trump. The statement should be attributed to Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan.
“It’s fitting that an out-of-touch extremist like Donald Trump would pick Mike Pence, an extreme right-wing politician who has consistently put the wants of far-right interests over the needs of the people of his own state. Governor Pence is the architect of Indiana’s failed so-called Religious Freedom bill that allowed for open discrimination against the LGBTQ community. The law cost the State of Indiana over $60 million. By choosing Mike Pence, Donald Trump has signaled that he is doubling down on hate and intolerance.”
