Michigan Legislators Deliver on Progressive Priorities

State budget continues trend of prioritizing public schools and supporting working families

MICHIGAN – On Wednesday, the Michigan Legislature passed a budget that includes increased support for infrastructure and public schools. This budget is the first passed by the Democratic majority elected last November. In response, Sam Inglot, executive director of Progress Michigan released the following statement:

“Under this budget, priorities we worked toward for years, like universal pre-K, free breakfast and lunch for every kid, and broadband access for all, will finally become a reality. It’s also good to see that Gov. Whitmer and the Legislature are committed to upgrading water infrastructure and are working to ensure that all Michiganders have access to safe, affordable drinking water service and sanitation. This budget represents a significant step forward, toward the better, brighter future Michiganders deserve.”
