Progress Michigan Statement on Oxford School Shooting

Michiganders deserve safe communities

MICHIGAN – The following statement regarding the shooting that occurred in Oxford, MI, today can be attributed to Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan:

“What happened in Oxford today was a tragedy, and my heart goes out to all the students, staff, and family members affected. But no amount of thoughts or prayers will undo the harm done to the Oxford community or the countless other communities across the country that have been impacted by gun violence. Students deserve safe schools, and Michiganders deserve safe communities. As I mourn with the Oxford community today, I also urge our elected officials to take action on gun violence prevention and prevent more tragedies like this from occurring in the future.”
