For decades, Michigan Republicans have put the needs of corporate cronies like the Michigan Chamber of Commerce over the health, safety, and success of our communities. This past year has been more of the same.
Last year, as a deadly pandemic claimed thousands of lives, GOP lawmakers refused to consider even the most basic, common-sense public health policies to keep us safe. Instead, they repeatedly attacked Gov. Whitmer and undermined her efforts to protect our communities from COVID-19.
In the wake of the 2020 election, when record numbers of Michigan voters turned out in spite of COVID and rampant disinformation, Michigan Republicans chose to promote lies and conspiracy theories about our elections. Now, they’re using those lies and conspiracy theories as an excuse to push bills that will make it harder for eligible voters to cast their ballots.
Meanwhile, working families are struggling to make ends meet, our infrastructure is crumbling, and corporate pollution is contaminating our water and degrading our climate. Our communities deserve better than Michigan Republicans and their political games.
