GOP Continues to Show Blatant Disregard for Human Rights
State, local, and national attacks on abortion rights are all unconscionable
MICHIGAN – Following recent news that the Hillsdale City Council wants to fully ban abortion, as well as six Republican members of Michigan’s Congressional delegation signing onto a brief to overturn Roe v. Wade, reproductive health advocates are condemning the GOP’s continued attacks on our rights and reaffirming the need to keep abortion safe and legal.
“At the state, local, and national level, we’ve watched Republican lawmakers and right-wing extremists launch attack after attack on the human right to safe, legal abortion,” said Sam Inglot, deputy director of Progress Michigan. “Everyone should have the right to make their own decisions about their reproductive health and be able to access the healthcare they need. These repeated attacks on reproductive freedom are both unconstitutional and unconscionable and we, along with millions of Michiganders across the state who recognize that reproductive rights are human rights, will continue to fight back and defend abortion access.”
