House Republicans Continue to Make a Mockery of the Political Process
Hearing with conspiracy theorist Naomi Wolf is an embarrassment to our state
MICHIGAN – On Thursday, House Republicans held a hearing featuring testimony from noted conspiracy theorist and anti-vaxxer Naomi Wolf, continuing a well-established trend of Republican lawmakers amplifying disinformation and anti-science talking points.
“I guess hearing from election conspiracy theorists like Rudy Giuliani and Melissa Carone wasn’t embarrassing enough, because Michigan Republicans have decided to give a platform to a noted anti-vaxxer,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “Naomi Wolf has a long track record of sharing bogus conspiracy theories that defy science and logic, and for House Republicans to bring her in and present her as an expert on vaccines or infectious disease is a travesty. Next, we hope to hear from other ‘experts’ like Dr. Pepper, Dr. Doofenshmirtz, and Doctor Doom, all of whom would be just as qualified as Naomi Wolf is to speak on this issue.”
