Progress Michigan Statement on Senate Oversight Hearing
MICHIGAN — Progress Michigan released the following statement regarding the Senate Oversight Committee hearing discussing Michigan’s elections. The statement should be attributed to be Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan.
“The fact of the matter is that Michigan’s elections were safe, secure and accurate, whether Republicans want to accept those facts seems to be another question entirely. Election officials with decades of experience, clerks from both parties, and the courts have shown that repeatedly because not a single claim of wrongdoing has passed the smell test. As of today, more than 10,000 Michiganders are dead as a result of COVID, largely in part because of inaction by the Michigan Legislature and Trump administration. It is way past time members of the Senate Oversight Committee got to work on protecting people from COVID and providing relief to families and small businesses. The people have had enough of this partisan circus. People are dying, which needs to be addressed more urgently than simply allowing sore losers to keep lying.”
