Progress Michigan on Historic SCOTUS Ruling for LGBTQ+ Rights
SCOTUS rules no one cannot be fired for being LGBTQ+, much needed good news in 2020

LANSING — Progress Michigan released the following statement regarding the decision by the United States Supreme Court in favor of protections for the LGBTQ+ community in the workplace. The quote should be attributed to Lonnie Scott, executive director at Progress Michigan.

“Today’s ruling is an historic moment for the LGBTQ+ community and the entire country. No one should be fired for who they love or who they are, and we’re ecstatic that the court ruled in the favor of people over bigotry. This is a massive victory for equality and the decades of struggle and perseverance that led to this moment.

We would also like to take a moment to acknowledge the heroes who made this possible – like Michigan’s own Aimee Stephens – who stood up for what was right and helped make this ruling a reality. May she rest in power knowing she helped make progress possible.”
