Progress Michigan Slams Lawsuit Brought by Chatfield, Shirkey
Republican lawmakers should ditch petty partisan fights and get back to their actual jobs
MICHIGAN – Progress Michigan released a statement today condemning the lawsuit brought by Republican leaders Mike Shirkey and Lee Chatfiel to limit Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s emergency powers. The following quote can be attributed to Lonnie Scott, Executive Director:
“This lawsuit, like the two legislators who engineered it, is steaming pile of shit. Shirkey and Chatfield whine that the Legislature has been left out of the process, but they have been the ones to jeopardize representation of millions of Michiganians by not enacting measures that would allow all legislators to meet safely. For the Legislature to be a partner in this process, Chatfield and Shirkey need to put aside their partisan power grabs, enact legislation that allows for remote meetings, and get to work on real, science-based solutions to protect our communities during this pandemic.”
