Representative Henry Yanez Named Progress Michigan ‘Legislator of the Month’
Yanez recognized for work to expand Lisa’s Law; work on education for first responder families
LANSING — Progress Michigan named Representative Henry Yanez ‘Legislator of the Month’ for September. Yanez was recognized for working to ensure families of first responders have access to tuition aid and his continued work to expand Lisa’s Law, a law to protect home health care workers.
“Representative Yanez represents Macomb county well. His work ethic and dogged determination to pass common sense legislation fits well with the hardworking people he represents,” said Hugh Madden, communications director with Progress Michigan. “Yanez should be applauded for drawing attention to an auditor general’s report showing many state workers fear for their safety on the job. Public servants should be able to perform their roles without fear and Representative Yanez is helping to make workplace safety a priority. We are proud to name him Legislator of the Month.”
The Legislator of the Month award is given to an elected official who demonstrates a commitment to a government of the people, by the people and for the people.
