Progress Michigan names Representative Abdullah Hammoud ‘Legislator of the Month’
Hammoud named for quest for accountability from corporations receiving tax dollars
LANSING — Progress Michigan has named Representative Abdullah Hammoud (D-Dearborn) its Legislator of the Month for June. Representative Hammoud was honored for sponsoring House Bill 6276, which would require businesses receiving money from the Michigan Strategic Fund to pay at least $15 per hour to its employees.
“The last decade of complete Republican control has seen corporations receive hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars while working people have seen their wages and incomes remain stagnant,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “Representative Hammoud’s bill will ensure the taxpayers who fund and work on these projects make a living wage. Representative Hammoud continues working to ensure the benefits of economic activity in Michigan go to those who actually work to make it happen. We are honored to name him Legislator of the Month for June.”
The Legislator of the Month award is given to an elected official who demonstrates a commitment to a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
