LANSING — Progress Michigan has released videos showing Brian Calley and Bill Schuette refusing to take a stance on the Trump administration’s policy of separating immigrant families at the border. Their silence comes a day after Progress Michigan called on both elected officials to tell the people of Michigan which side of morality they stand on.
The video was filmed by Progress Michigan Deputy Communications Director Sam Inglot outside of the Michigan State Capitol Building in Downtown Lansing during a gun rally. Both Calley and Schuette refused to answer important questions about the policy despite the fact that children torn from their families at the border are now in Michigan.
“Bill Schuette and Brian Calley refused to answer an important question that the people of Michigan deserve to know: do they support the Trump administration’s policy of separating children from their families at the border?” said Sam Inglot, deputy communications director at Progress Michigan. “Immigrant children taken from their parents are coming to Michigan and the people deserve answers on where these elected officials stand. The Trump administration’s policy of separating families and detaining children is morally reprehensible and inhumane. Michiganders deserve answers from Brian Calley and Bill Schuette on this issue.”
