Schuette Backs Plan to Gut Healthcare Help for MI Families
Bill Schuette’s inaction will hurt families’ paychecks and healthcare
MICHIGAN — Attorney General Bill Schuette has stated that he won’t be joining efforts to stop President Donald Trump from raising healthcare costs for more than 150,000 working people in Michigan.
According to Michigan Radio, Schuette said Trump was “doing the right thing” by ending Affordable Care Act healthcare subsidies. Trump’s actions will increase the healthcare costs of hundreds of thousands of people in the state.
“Bill Schuette is so beholden to his party bosses and his corporate donors, that he refuses to stand up to Donald Trump, even when hundreds of thousands of Michiganders will be hurt by his inaction,” said Hugh Madden, communications director of Progress Michigan. “By refusing to act, Schuette is directly affecting Michiganders paychecks and access to healthcare. This is another attempt by Republicans to scuttle the Affordable Care Act for political reasons, rather than what’s best for Americans’ access to healthcare.”
