Female officer faces ouster for opposing Trump
LANSING — News broke today that the Michigan Republican Party is considering expelling one of its female officers because she refuses to support Donald Trump for president — proving that even amongst fellow Republicans, conservatives can’t stand a woman speaking up.
According to multiple reports, the MIGOP’s grassroots vice chairwoman, Wendy Day of Howell, has refused to support Donald Trump for president, leading top officials in the party to call for her ouster.
“With her call for Day’s resignation, Ronna Romney McDaniel has proven that this isn’t your grandpa’s GOP, and George Romney is probably rolling over in his grave. The MIGOP has become so incensed with it’s own hatred that it has become an ideological boulder that cannot be moved and will crush anyone in its path,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “I never thought I would see the day that Tea Party activist Wendy Day would be the voice of reason in the MIGOP. It’s very telling that a female officer may be removed for simply not supporting a misogynistic candidate, but the Party repeatedly claimed there was no way for them to remove openly-racist national committeeman Dave Agema.”
