Progress Michigan Statement on Latest Steve Marino Revelations
Call for 10 and 12 year olds to work is beyond reprehensible
LANSING — Progress Michigan released the following statement regarding the release of recordings in which Steve Marino admitted to owning a company in China and called for outsourcing Michigan jobs and employing children to save on labor costs.
“It appears that the Michigan Republican Party has finally announced a jobs plan for Michigan after six years of total control,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “It’s deplorable that an elected official like Steve Marino would publicly express support for sending Michigan jobs to China and call for 10 and 12 year olds to be forced to work. However, you need not look much further than the Michigan GOP’s union busting techniques to know that while Marino made the disgusting comments, many Republican elected officials likely agree with him. Michigan Republicans should immediately come clean on if they stand with Steve Marino’s jobs plan or not.”
