You Call This a Roads Plan?
GOP had five years to come up with plan, utterly failed
LANSING — The $1.2 billion roads plan passed by the GOP-controlled legislature doesn’t generate the needed revenue for critical infrastructure fixes for several years and asks working families to continue to shoulder the majority of the responsibility for the needed investment.
“The Michigan GOP, including Gov. Rick Snyder and the House and Senate, have had nearly five years to come up with a road funding solution and this is the best they can come up with? This plan stinks. What else can you say at this point? The Michigan GOP can’t do anything without asking working families to pay more, while corporations are allowed to contribute next to nothing to help fund our state’s priorities,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “Further, this plan puts the future of Michigan communities at risk with mystery cuts that will jeopardize public safety, health and education. This is a dangerous plan that holds the state’s future hostage. Gov. Snyder needs to veto this legislation immediately.”
