Progress Michigan Statement on AG Bill Schuette’s New Role
Partisan hack Schuette perfect fit for partisan political organization
LANSING — Today, Progress Michigan is calling attention to Attorney General Bill Schuette’s new role as Chair of the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA). Attorney General Schuette will serve in his new capacity in the coming year.
“Bill Schuette has spent five years using his elected position to defend polluters, fight to take away healthcare from Michigan citizens and attack individuals’ freedoms,” said Sam Inglot, deputy communications director for Progress Michigan. “It speaks volumes about RAGA that they would see a failed Attorney General like Bill Schuette as a leader.”
In a Facebook post, Schuette claimed that his role will be to fight “the Obama big government machine” and that he is looking forward to providing “a unified voice against the federal government overreach.”
“Bill Schuette needs to dust off his copy of the U.S. Constitution. The Legislative and Judicial branches are tasked with providing checks and balances, state Attorneys General are tasked with protecting the people of their state from dangerous criminals and corporations polluting our air, water and political system,” Inglot continued. “Bill Schuette needs to focus on his job as Michigan Attorney General and protect Michiganders instead of his quixotic campaign to be named ‘Employee of the Month’ at DTE Energy.”
