McBroom slams fiscal cliff deal that cut taxes for Michigan’s middle class
LANSING – In a recent interview with WLUC-TV, State Representative Ed McBroom (R-Vulcan) voiced his opposition to the bipartisan fiscal cliff agreement, which prevented a massive tax hike on Michigan’s middle class families. “Nobody likes paying taxes, but they understand we get something for them,” said McBroom. Progress Michigan is calling on McBroom to start protecting Michigan’s middle class families.
“Lansing politicians like Ed McBroom need to get their priorities straight,” said Zack Pohl, Executive Director of Progress Michigan. “By opposing this bipartisan agreement, McBroom has made it clear that he supports higher taxes on Michigan’s middle class families, who are already struggling to make ends meet. It’s time for McBroom to start standing up for the middle class, not the special interests.”
During the floor debate earlier this week, Republican Congressman Dave Camp (Midland) argued in favor of the bipartisan fiscal cliff agreement. “If we didn’t address this fiscal cliff issue, every single American would see a tax increase,” said Dave Camp. “And it would be a big tax increase. It would be the biggest in the country This is the largest tax cut in American history.” The clip of Camp’s speech can be viewed below:
