“Lansing Republican have shown once again that they have the wrong priorities and are making things harder for the middle class in Michigan,” said Zack Pohl, Executive Director of Progress Michigan. “Republican politicians called this last-minute committee hearing to fast-track a vote on HB 5711, which would deny women essential healthcare services like mammograms, maternity care and birth control. Republicans in Lansing are trying to ban all forms of abortion, even in cases of rape, incest and when the life of the mother is at risk, and will make it harder for women to get birth control. Their actions will hurt millions of Michigan women and their families during these tough economic times.”
