Zack Pohl to lead progressive communications organization starting on April 2
LANSING – Today Progress Michigan named Zack Pohl as the organization’s new Executive Director, taking over for David Holtz, who has accepted a position on U.S. Rep. Dale Kildee’s congressional staff. Pohl currently serves as Communications Director for We Are the People, a statewide coalition that advocates for the middle class, and previously served as Press Secretary for former U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer.
“We’re excited to have an effective communicator like Zack who’s ready to lead the team at Progress Michigan,” said Holtz. “Zack knows what it takes to fight for progressive ideas in the face of relentless attacks from extreme politicians and corporate special interests. He’s ready to hit the ground running, and I’m confident he will be a powerful voice for Michigan’s progressive community.”
Pohl served as Communications Director for Schauer’s two nationally-targeted congressional races in 2008 and 2010, and served as the Congressman’s spokesperson during the health care reform debate of 2009.

Prior to working for Rep. Schauer, Pohl was a communications advisor with the Michigan Senate Democrats, and a Communications Coordinator with a statewide affordable housing non-profit organization. He is a graduate of Michigan State University.
