Special Guest: Arizona State House Representative Kyrsten Sinema

In response to Arizona’s extremist anti-immigrant law, State Representative Rashida Tlaib and supporters from the legislature, and the faith and labor communities, will introduce a resolution calling for repeal, demanding a thorough investigation by the Justice department, and urging Michiganders to boycott Arizona. She will be joined by State Representative Kyrsten Sinema, who has helped lead the opposition in Arizona.

Press Conference: Business and Social Service Leaders Oppose Arizona-Style Law in Michigan, Call for Comprehensive Immigration Reform

The business and social service communities have joined together in opposition to a proposed Arizona-style anti-immigrant law in Michigan. At this press event, Ray Lozano, Executive Director of the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, will detail why such a law would be devastating for business and jobs in Michigan. He will be joined by Angela Reyes, Executive Director of the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation, and Eva Dewaelsche, President of SER Metro Inc.

During this town hall meeting, Detroiters will stand up in opposition to the passage of an Arizona-style law in Michigan. The meeting will feature the testimonies of immigrants who have been hassled by the police and border patrol without justification. The campaign has invited all candidates for Governor to attend and officially register their support or opposition for such a bill.
