Organization: For Michigan
Position: Distributed Student Fellowship

Overview

As Michigan takes centerstage on the political landscape for the upcoming elections, students in Michigan have an opportunity to make their voices heard and take leadership on their campuses. For Michigan provides a platform for students to be civic leaders in their community through voter registration, education and turnout by building a scrappy and innovative operation to protect and expand democracy.

What Will You Do?

For Michigan’s student fellowship program provides autonomy to students and recent graduates studying abroad or otherwise out of state to take initiative in turning out students to vote. Fellows receive training and education from the distributed organizer to learn about how to contact Michigan voters from anywhere in the world and get them to the polls.

Services That Fellows Provide Include:

  • Talk to students by phone, text, relational outreach, social media, and more.
  • Recruit and train volunteers who will mobilize their peers and support a movement on campuses across Michigan.
  • Build relationships with a coalition of administrators, student leaders, and student organizations on a campus.
  • Use social media to engage with students and organize on campus.
  • Contact voters to cure voter registrations and cure ballots after Election Day.

Who Are You?

  • A current or recent student at a Michigan college or university.
  • Passionate about empowering young people to get involved in the political process.
  • Eager to talk to as many students as possible.
  • Motivated to work independently to accomplish the services.
  • Not required to have prior organizing experience.
