Trump Continues Vanity Tour in Detroit While Michiganders Suffer
MICHIGAN – In response to the news that President Donald Trump plans to come to Michigan to speak at a Detroit Economic Club event and tour a Ford facility, Levi Teitel, communications coordinator for Progress Michigan, issued the following statement:
“Between starting invasions in foreign countries, jacking up the cost of living for everyone and unleashing state-sanctioned violence in American cities, Trump has made the decision to speak to Detroit business leaders, likely in an attempt to con them into supporting his economic agenda as he lies about its impact. But here’s the truth: as Trump’s agenda gets implemented, the affordability crisis in this state is only getting worse. Rising health care costs, the impact of tariffs, and cutting food assistance from families in need are making Michiganders rightfully angry, all while the president calls this affordability crisis a hoax.
“It’s only fitting that Trump is speaking to business leaders at an exclusive event at a time when the rich are getting richer and everyone else is hanging on by a thread. Let’s also not forget that the last time the Detroit Economic Club hosted the president, he insulted our beautiful city.
“Detroiters don’t want to hear from this twice-impeached bully any longer — Trump needs to get out of this city faster than a jerk driver flying down the Lodge.”
