Heartless Hall & House GOP Gifting Coal to Michigan Families, Veterans, Child Sexual Assault Survivors
$645M inhumane budget cut before holiday season shows cruel “leadership” of Matt Hall and House Republicans as Michiganders face cost of living crisis
LANSING, Mich. – On Friday, Progress Michigan released the following statement on the Republican-controlled Michigan House Appropriations Committee move to cut nearly $650 million from already-approved critical funding and projects. The statement can be attributed to Denzel McCampbell, managing director for Progress Michigan:
“MAGA Matt Hall and House Republicans have shown nothing but glee for the havoc and harm their budget cuts will cause for Michigan families and communities. We now know that the move to cut nearly $650 million from programs, services, and projects that were already approved was a calculated move by Heartless Hall in his quest to be Donald Trump 2.0. While Matt Hall and his cronies revel in infamy, mothers, infants, children with cancer, kids impacted by the Flint Water Crisis, young survivors of sexual assault, along with the organizations that serve them, are now searching for answers and a needed lifeline days before the holiday season. There are even some members of the House GOP caucus speaking out against these cuts, which is all the more evidence that Hall doesn’t have his act together. This is not leadership—this is a cruel and unusual punishment spearheaded by Michigan House Republicans.
“This is yet another painful action done by Matt Hall and House Republicans to score political points on the backs and bellies of Michiganders. From Rx Kids to funding for libraries, clean energy programs, and health care – Matt Hall has made it clear that we should just eat cake while he caters to his dangerous MAGA backers and corporate donors. We deserve better.”
