Republican Cuts Will Strip 700,000+ Michiganders of Health Care
MICHIGAN – Today, Progress Michigan released the following statement regarding the proposed cuts to Medicaid by Republicans on the federal level, and how it will surely impact every Michigander. The statement can be attributed to Sam Inglot, executive director for Progress Michigan:
“Let’s be clear what Republicans, including the Michigan Republican Congressional Delegation, are proposing: to strip more than 700,000 Michiganders of lifesaving health care. The gutting of services like Medicaid by the Trump Administration and Republicans impacts all of us as it lowers health standards and safeguards for the most vulnerable all over our state, and is a gut punch to everyone’s health and safety.
“Republicans continue to propose cuts that will only harm everyday Michiganders during a time where folks are struggling, want lower costs, and are need of a strong safety net – Medicaid helps to provide that. Cutting Medicaid isn’t just slashing the safety net, it’s punching a hole in the life raft of our entire healthcare system. Every congressional Republican should answer to their constituents on why they think stripping cancer patients of health care is the way to go in exchange for billionaires and greedy getting a massive tax giveaway. Who’s side are they really on?”
