Trump Indictment Shows No One is Above the Law
Former President Donald Trump being indicted sends an important message: no one is above the law, not even a former President of the United States
MICHIGAN – According to reports, Trump has been indicted for illegally concealing hush money payments to cover up an extramarital affair from voters in the weeks leading up to the 2016 election. In light of this news, the following statement can be attributed to Sam Inglot, deputy director of Progress Michigan:
“A man from New York has reportedly been indicted for a crime his attorney, Michael Cohen, has already served jail time for. We all know that man is former President Donald Trump, but that doesn’t change the facts of the case – facts a grand jury made up of everyday Americans decided were substantial enough evidence for this indictment.
“Despite the facts, the Michigan Republican Party, Michigan MAGA Republicans, and right-wing extremists have already begun pushing false and inflammatory rhetoric to further their own extremist political agenda. After the rise in disinformation-fueled political violence in recent years, including the January 6th, 2021 attack on our country at the nation’s capitol, using Trump’s indictment to incite anger and fear isn’t just abhorrently reckless, it’s dangerous, and no one should pretend otherwise.
“We’re calling on Michigan MAGA Republicans to, at the very least, publicly reject violence, stop spreading disinformation, and stop pushing incendiary rhetoric before the resulting fire causes harm. The facts are simple. This indictment confirms a fundamental truth all Americans should support: no one—not even a former President—is above the law.”
