Nessel Stands Up to Big Pharma
Progressives praise AG for work to hold pharmaceutical companies accountable
MICHIGAN – On Monday, Attorney General Dana Nessel announced next steps in a $26 billion settlement with three major pharmaceutical companies. The following response can be attributed to Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan:
“The opioid epidemic has devastated communities in Michigan and across the country, and the irresponsible and dangerous behavior of big pharma companies was a major factor. No amount of money can bring back the people we’ve lost or undo the harm opioids have caused, but this settlement will go a long way toward combating this crisis and supporting those who struggle with addiction. We applaud AG Nessel for her consistent work to stand up for our communities and hold big pharma companies accountable for their wrongdoing.”
