Progress Michigan Denounces House Elections and Ethics Committee Passage of Anti-Voter Bills

MICHIGAN – After the Michigan House Elections and Ethics Committee voted out two extreme anti-voter bills that would eliminate options voters have at the ballot box, Progress Michigan is calling upon the legislature to stop attacks on our freedom to vote. The following quote is from Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan

“Despite the proven fact that the 2020 election was secure, accurate and accessible, Republicans are hellbent on advancing bills which threaten our voting rights. SBs 303 and 304 are useless because Michigan already has voter ID laws, and these additional restrictions will only put up further barriers between voters, especially voters of color, low-income voters, students, seniors, voters with disabilities and rural voters, and the ballot box. Michiganders deserve better than these efforts by elected officials to roll back our freedom to vote.”
