Progress Michigan Celebrates Failure of Anti-Choice Petition Drive
Meant to ban dilation and evacuation abortions in Michigan, Right to Life falls short
LANSING – The following statement may be attributed to Lonnie Scott executive director of Progress Michigan.
“Right to Life of Michigan’s petition drive was never meant to reach the public for a vote anyway. They hoped radical, right-wing extremist legislators would be able to push through their flawed policy. We’ve said all along the public would never support this type of ban, and it’s satisfying to know that they couldn’t collect enough signatures to move the issue forward, even when given an unjustified second chance to do so by the State Board of Canvassers.”
