Progress Michigan Commends Gov. Whitmer’s Leadership on COVID-19
Extending stay-at-home order is the right call for Michigan
MICHIGAN – Progress Michigan released the following statement today in support of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s decision to extend the shelter in place order through April 30. The following quote can be attributed to Lonnie Scott, Executive Director of Progress Michigan.
“During times like these, we need strong leadership from our elected officials more than ever—and that’s exactly what we’re getting from Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Since this crisis began, she has served as a strong, level-headed leader and we’re grateful to have her in the governor’s office. As the virus continues to spread and we see more and more tragic deaths, it’s critical that social distancing measures be extended, as the number of cases are expected to increase. While Gov. Whitmer focuses on what’s best for Michigan, Donald Trump focuses on inflating his ego and shifting the blame for this pandemic to others, Gov. Whitmer is listening to scientists and doing everything she can to keep us all safe. ‘That woman from Michigan’ is the leader our communities need and deserve, and we applaud her handling of this unprecedented crisis.”
