The Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) is the largest, most effective union for registered nurses in Michigan. As the voice for all registered nurses in Michigan, MNA advocates for nurses and their patients at the State Capitol, in the community, and at the bargaining table.
The Director of Organizing is a highly responsible and professional position managing the MNA organizing program and staff. MNA is building member power to ensure nurses voices are heard when Hospital CEOs try to put profits before patients.
The candidate must have demonstrated supervision of organizing staff and the efficient management of organizing resources, while working collaboratively with other directors to integrate organizing into the broader programs of the MNA. The Director must have the ability direct staff and leadership from beginning to end of a successful organizing campaign. Must be able to develop and implement a long-term strategic plan. The Director oversees the progress and effectiveness of campaigns; assesses needs, identifies targets, and allocates resources.
The candidate must have advanced knowledge of labor unions and organizing as well as labor laws, both public and private sector and ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work activities. Advanced ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.
This position is based in the Lansing Michigan area; travel is required.
The successful candidate shall possess a relevant degree and experience in the labor movement. NLRB experience and relevant health care experience desired.
