Representative Yousef Rabhi Named Progress Michigan ‘Legislator of the Month’
Rabhi named for his commitment to universal health care, financial disclosure
LANSING — Progress Michigan has named Representative Yousef Rabhi its ‘Legislator of the Month’ for July. Rabhi was named for being in a leader in crafting legislation to create MiCare, a universal health care plan that would provide all Michiganders with basic health, mental health and dental care. In addition, Rabhi joined colleagues in July to call for legislation to require financial disclosure of elected officials in Michigan.
“Representative Rabhi is not afraid to tackle the problems facing Michigan families, and his health care plan shows he understands how many families are one medical emergency away from poverty,” said Hugh Madden, communications director at Progress Michigan. “He is also willing to put his money where his mouth is by disclosing his own finances when calling for legislation to require transparency from all candidates for state office. This is the type of leadership all Michiganders can be proud of.”
The Legislator of the Month award is given to an elected official who demonstrates a commitment to a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
