Testimony Shows Snyder Lied About Legionnaire’s to Congress
Harvey Hollins blows holes in Snyder’s story, Schuette should charge governor
MICHIGAN — Gongwer News Service is reporting that the testimony of Harvey Hollins, an aide to Gov. Rick Snyder contradicts what the governor said to Congress regarding what he knew and when he knew it about Legionnaire’s Disease in Flint.
According to Gongwer, Hollins said Snyder knew of the problem with Legionnaire’s in 2015, not 2016 like Snyder claimed when he testified before Congress.
“If Harvey Hollins sworn testimony is true, it appears that Rick Snyder lied to Congress while under oath. Bill Schuette has been grandstanding on Flint and it’s time for him to finally do what people in Flint and across this state have wanted: to see Snyder held accountable for the poisoning of Flint,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “We’ve long said that it seems impossible that Snyder didn’t know about this crisis like he claimed and Harvey Hollins’ testimony implies that we were right. Snyder should be immediately held in contempt of Congress and Schuette should charge him with the same charges facing Lyons. If Schuette continues to fail to act one could ask if his inaction is simply because he doesn’t want to run against L.G. Brian Calley as a sitting Governor. ”
