Progress Michigan Speaks Out Against Corporate Tax Handouts

MICHIGAN — Progress Michigan released the following statement regarding a package of bills pending in the House that is yet another massive corporate tax handout. The bill package passed the Senate earlier this year.

“While working families in Michigan must earn every penny they get to cover the ever-increasing cost of living, college tuition, and health care, the corporate elite have received handout after handout from the Republican-controlled legislature. It’s ironic that it’s referred to as the ‘Good jobs’ package when the only people this bill is good for are the corporate CEOs,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “Everyone needs to pay their fair share and right now the scales in Michigan are skewed in favor of big business and wealthy CEOs. Our schools, roads, and public services are failing as Republicans have been starving our communities of critical funding. They can call the bill package whatever they want, I’ll call it what it really is, another handout to big business and another kick in the teeth to working people.”
