After Amash Statement, Progress Michigan calls on Michigan’s Republican Members of Congress to take a Stand on Trump
Michigan citizens deserve to know where members of Congress stand on possible obstruction of justice
LANSING — Progress Michigan is calling on the eight members of the Michigan Republican Congressional delegation to tell the state where they stand on the ever-evolving scandal surrounding Donald Trump and his administration as Congressman Justin Amash has put impeachment on the table if the allegations leveled against President Trump are true.
“It’s hard to keep up with the numerous scandals that President Trump has created for himself and by extension the country. But allegedly pressuring the FBI director to drop an investigation into Michael Flynn and ties to Russia rises to the level of impeachment if true,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “In a real-life example of politics making strange bedfellows, we applaud Congressman Amash for having the guts to point out that the Constitution trumps party loyalty. We’re demanding the other eight members of Michigan’s Republican delegation tell their constituents where they stand.”
Progress Michigan urges Michigan residents to contact their member of Congress and ask them where they stand if it’s true Trump obstructed justice. The eight members of Congress and their contact information are below.
“Republicans must put party politics aside, seek out the truth, and take a stand for basic honesty and integrity in the highest elected office in the country,” Scott continued. “It’s time for Fred Upton, Mike Bishop, Tim Walberg and the rest of their Republican colleagues in the Michigan delegation to tell us if they stand with the people and the Constitution or with Donald Trump.”
