Brian Calley Works for Corporations, Not the People
LG teases gubernatorial run despite record of hurting working families
LANSING — Progress Michigan released the following statement regarding reports that Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley is gearing up for a gubernatorial run.
“Brian Calley brags about being soft spoken, but he’s done nothing but make life harder for working families since he’s been LG,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “Thanks to Calley, Gov. Rick Snyder, and the GOP-controlled legislature, Michigan’s economy is rigged to help wealthy corporations rather than families, seniors and working people. Under Calley’s failed leadership, tuition has skyrocketed at Michigan’s universities, 40 percent of households can’t make ends meet, and seniors’ retirement is being taxed. Calley has also been Snyder’s point person in Flint and has failed to make progress for the families there, who still rely on bottled water for survival. Even now, three years into the crisis, families are still being forced to pay for water they can’t safely use. It is clear Calley is just another Snyder crony who preaches policies that have been disastrous for Michigan.”
