Despicable: State to No Longer Help Flint Residents Pay for Water, Will Continue to Pay Snyder’s Legal Bills
Water still not safe to drink, but Snyder still taking public money for legal defense
LANSING — Progress Michigan released the following statement regarding the news that the state will no longer be providing resources to help Flint residents pay for their water bills.
“It’s disgusting that Gov. Snyder is taking millions in public dollars to hire lawyers for his private Flint Water Crisis legal defense, but will no longer help the very residents who were harmed by his actions pay for their water — which they still cannot drink safely,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “The Flint Water Crisis is not over and is still a daily struggle for residents. Governor Snyder has chosen his own personal defense over providing clean drinking water for the children of Flint. This is unacceptable.”
