Michiganders Continue to Front Bill for Snyder Administration Sins in Flint
Public already footing the bill for Snyder’s legal defense — and now his EMs
MICHIGAN — Flint residents should not have to pay the legal bill for the emergency managers that caused the poisoning of their own city, Progress Michigan said today in a statement. Reports have said that the public will be footing the legal bill to defend ex-Flint emergency managers Darnell Earley and Gerald Ambrose.
“This is yet another punch to the gut for the people of this state and another bleak chapter of the Flint Water Crisis. The people at the center of Flint’s water crisis — Gov. Rick Snyder and his undemocratic emergency managers — are getting their legal bills paid by the very people they poisoned with their policies. It’s not right,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “Elected officials like Bill Schuette and Rick Snyder have continually cited the issue of ‘cost’ as an excuse to not get the people of Flint the help they need, like bottled water delivery. But they don’t blink an eye when taxpayers fork over millions to cover the legal costs of the people responsible for this crisis in the first place.”
Michiganders are already footing the bill for Gov. Snyder’s legal defense — the funds for which were unilaterally approved by the governor himself — to the tune of millions of dollars.
