Snyder Admin: There’s No Lead Problem, But Here’s Some Water Filters
Administration denied Flint water problem while secretly distributing 1,500 filters
FLINT — News broke today that the Snyder administration secretly organized the distribution of water filters to Flint residents that help remove lead from the water. This comes on the heels of the Snyder administration denying that there was any problem with the Flint water, which has been deemed dangerous to drink by researchers and resulted in Flint children having increased levels of lead in their blood.
“Something here stinks and it’s not just the water coming from the taps in Flint. Why is the Snyder administration publicly denying there’s a problem while at the same time quietly working behind the scenes to mitigate the damage? This water switch was part of Snyder’s emergency management of the city. Could he be trying to protect the legacy of his anti-democratic legislation?” questioned Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “Gov. Rick Snyder has proven time and time again that he simply can’t lead. Clearly, he should address the issues with Flint’s water in his official capacity as Governor of Michigan. He should not be acting like a shady water filter-dealer who operates in the shadows and forces the silence of local activists.”
